EXMILITARY, THE MONEY STORE, NO LOVE DEEP WEB

EXMILITARY

Exmilitary is the band's debut mixtape, released in 2011. It was released for free through the band's website, and reissued on vinyl recently in May 1, 2025. The lead single, Guillotine, has become the band's most recognizable song. Other singles include Takyon (Death Yon), Spread Eagle Cross the Block, and Beware. The opening track, Beware, features a vocal sample from an quote by Charles Manson, a cult leader, criminal, and musician. The mixtape recieved overwhemingly positive reviews from critics, and John Calvert of Drowned in Sound focused on the mentality of the character that the album revolves around and how it reflects the inner nature of man, citing the lyricism and sound production as being focal points around this sound and style. In 2013, choirmaster and broadcaster Gareth Malone performed a choir cover of "Guillotine" for his debut studio album Voices. In April 2019, Icelandic singer Björk played "Guillotine" during a performance at a school dance in Iceland. On November 11, 2021, a group of vigilante hackers defaced the Constitutional Court of Thailand's website homepage with the music video, also changing the website name to "kangaroo court". This action was done to protest the Constitutional Court's rulings against pro-democracy activists who were seeking to reform or overthrow the monarchy.

THE MONEY STORE

The Money Store is the debut album by Death Grips, released on April 14, 2012. The album is one of Death Grips most critically acclaimed album, and many say that it is their best album. A vinyl release of the album was released on April 21, 2012, to support Record Store Day, a semi-annual event dedicated to celebrating indie record stores around the world. The album was first hinted at with the release of a music video for a track titled "Blackjack" on February 7, 2012. On April 10, the track "I've Seen Footage" (one of the best songs off of the album btw) was released for free download through their official SoundCloud page, and Pitchfork Media awarded the track their "Best New Music" designation. Elements of the track "System Blower" and "Full Moon (Death Classic)" were used on the band's remix of "Sacrifice" by Björk, which she included on her 2012 remix album Bastards later that year. The closing track "Hacker" is believed to be an outtake from the band's debut 2011 mixtape Exmilitary. The file for an early unreleased version of the song was leaked on the band's official Subreddit in April 2017, originally titled "Earth Angel (Androgynous Mind)".

NO LOVE DEEP WEB

No Love Deep Web is the second studio album by Death Grips, released on October 1, 2012. The album was leaked by the band themselves because of complications over its release date with their label Epic Records, who subsequently dropped them. The album was immediately met with strong attention, due to its explicit album cover of Zach Hill's dih with the words "NO LOVE DEEP WEB" written on them. On November 19, 2013, No Love Deep Web was released on vinyl and CD through Harvest Records, as well as being made available on streaming services. No Love Deep Web is by far one of the band's darkest albums. A Record Store Day exclusive of the album was released in 2022, which featured a never before seen alternative cover of Stefan (MC Ride) shirtless and holding middle fingers with both of his hands. In August 2012, the band told Pitchfork: "there are no manually programmed drums on this album, the beats are being played live on a Roland electronic v-drum set or acoustic drum set by Zach. There are no features, guest collabs or outside producers. The material is cold, bass heavy, minimal, rock and roll influenced and could simultaneously fit into a rave or dance club context. It is essentially rap and electronic music while at times extremely aggressive." The song "Artificial Death in the West" features an audio sample from the song "Being Sucked in Again" by English post-punk band Wire from their 1978 album Chairs Missing.
